Moving day today, only a two hour drive. Leaving Meaher State Park near Mobile AL and following the coast into Mississippi. Meaher is pretty nice, not much to it, but location location location as they say. Great view out into the bay, and close to services and Mobile. And walking in the marsh after dark with the giant rats was creepy but fun. Hard to tell without a scale for reference, but this thing is as big as a medium sized dog. Almost 3ft from nose to tip of the tail!

Yesterday we went to Blakeley Historic State Park near here. The site of the largest Civil War battle in Alabama and supposed to be the last big pitched battle of the war. Lots of earthworks and trenches remain, and plenty of exhibits to explain what was happening back then. Worth the visit. Many HUGE live oak trees, even Susy was impressed. (She really likes trees 😄). Also saw the old townsite of Blakeley, once upon a time bigger than its neighbor across the bay, Mobile, the town completely died off back in the 1800’s.

We also went into Mobile to visit Mo’ Bay Beignets. I’d never tried a beignet before and this place came highly recommended. Cute place, beignets reminded me of the flavor of a funnel cake at the fair. Worth going to, but I can honestly say I’m not going to get addicted to beignets. Krispy Kreme though… 🤔
