March 4…. Life keeps going

Nothing ground breaking, nothing earth shaking, nothing much blog worthy. Just living life.

We take walks on some of the many trails here, we go sit by the river and read or people-watch, we look for wildlife, I took care of some of the many maintenance items on my list. We went to breakfast at iHop. Susy took care of some business matters. Just… life.

I sat by the fire Sunday night, it was pitch dark, no moon, a gazillion stars. Wind thru the trees. the weekend campers had all left and the park was quiet again. Susy had gone for a shower so I could sit and stare at the flames. As the fire was dying down, “something” walked up into the remaining circle of dim red light surrounding me. It startled the heck out of me and I jumped, I think it was as startled as I was. It ambled along like a raccoon, down on all fours, but it was as big as a medium large dog. Very fluffy, think bear fur, but definitely not a bear. And it was basically a blonde color. I think. Maybe. It was dark and I only got a brief glimpse. Maybe a chupacabra? 😮

I still love this area. Central Texas hill country has to be my favorite place so far, the land just appeals to me so much. There are trees here, lots of cedar and live oak, and a lot of ups and downs, hills and valleys, with rocks poking out everywhere just to break it up. You can see evidence everywhere of the long ranching history and traditions. There’s elbow room here. I wonder if moose would live in central Texas?

Maybe spring country in Florida is a close second. I do love a good swamp now and then. 😆.
