We left Manzano’s RV Park in Silver City NM and came to Show Low AZ. If you get a chance to make that drive on US-180 up through the Apache National Forest, do it! That was a beautiful drive, changing terrain from desert to mountains to grasslands to heavy Ponderosa pine forests several times.
Along the way we crossed the Continental Divide, so we’re truly in the west now. And then when we crossed into AZ, the time changed yet again, because the people of Arizona are smart and have refused to take part in the nonsense that is Daylight Savings Time. They run on Mountain Standard Time year round. I knew I was gonna like it here.
Show Low is a medium small town, mostly has all the right amenities, and is very pretty. Not someplace I think I want to live, but a great town to visit.
Haven’t done anything special here, just taking care of business… our medical specialist (Susy) spent a day lining up all our medication refills for the foreseeable future, I had the truck oil changed, Susy is working on laundry today, and we’ve just been hanging out enjoying the beautiful campground. Kinda slow after all of the activity our last few stops.
Northern Arizona has a “look” about it that really appeals to me. The desert right next to the mountains right next to the forests, all within a short distance. I like it here almost as much as the central Texas hill country. Looking forward to the next several weeks here.
