April 24…. “Picnic”

Today we went way, way, out in the country to have… a “picnic”. Yea, let’s call it a picnic. In the great outdoors.

In the northern reaches of Zion N.P., we finally found the place. No visible buildings as far as the eye could see, only the single road in, we hadn’t seen another vehicle or human in quite some time. The perfect place.

A beautiful meadow, stretching off into the distance, surrounded by low hills, a grove of trees in the foreground, and a distant view of the larger mountains. The perfect place for our picnic.

We took all our picnic supplies, and walked far out into the meadow, past the trees. A blanket, an air mattress (because of course you need an air mattress for a “picnic”) and our picnic essentials.

Overwhelmed by the beautiful setting, we just stopped and stared for a bit, then took some pictures of our surroundings.

After we had gotten everything unwrapped for the picnic, and just as we started the appetizers, off in the distance, I heard a car door and then voices. Really? Now?? Of all times.

As Susanne hurried to re-wrap our picnic supplies, I peeked around the trees, just enough to see the visitors. Fortunately, they only stopped for a photo opportunity and never left the road side. All good, back to the picnic.

We completed our picnic, enjoying the sunshine and breeze and the view. A wonderful way to spend an afternoon. Although I think I got a touch of sunburn on a place that doesn’t usually see the sun.
