June 7…. Oregon’s Caves

I went to the Oregon Caves National Monument and Preserve today.

I have to say… meh.

I took the tour through the cave, and it was “nice”. “Interesting”. Just ok.

It’s a mile long tunnel in the mountain, ducking and weaving, tiny small passages through the rock. “Some” formations as seen in other caves, but mostly just rocky passages.

We reached what our guide called “the Big Room”, and it was a bit bigger than my bedroom back home. Maybe.

The most interesting part of the whole place is that it is mostly made up of marble, rather than strictly limestone like other caves I’ve seen. The marble has the beautiful veins throughout, so there’s that. But after a while, it was Ho Hum, more marble. There was also some graffiti from cave explorers back in the 1890’s.

Glad I went, wouldn’t do it again.
