January 30…. No snow here!

Yesterday was a kayak day.

We visited Wekiwa Springs State Park in Apopka Fl.

Beautiful blue water boiling up into a huge swimming area and flowing into a river through the forest.

We launched a single kayak this time. Usually we each have one to ourselves, but decided to go tandem this time. Excellent idea! Half as much to inflate, half as much to carry, and I was able to sit back and “steer” while Susy paddled. 😁

Lots of wildlife… turtles everywhere, birds and even saw a couple gators. Susy’s first time being this close to gators in the wild. Had her a little on edge, but she enjoyed the day as much as I did.

Our plan to escape the cold has worked out nicely. 73 and sunny, beautiful day. They tell us it going to snow again at home this weekend. I’ll kinda miss the snow, but certainly not the cold. Give me a “Florida winter day” any time.

  1. they say an alligator’s length can be estimated by measuring from their nostrils to there eyes (usually can’t see whole body) if that area is 4 inches, it’s probably 4 foot long. 🐊👀
