January 26… weather makes a difference
We arrived yesterday and set up camp. MUCH warmer than it’s been for us so far, the snow is almost gone. A beautiful (I think I use that adjective too much, but it fits) location on the water. We watched the sunset and cooked dinner over our fire. I had fun walking in the marsh…

January 24… Ft Pickens
Yesterday, we finally left St. Andrew’s State Park in Panama City Beach. GREAT place, beautiful campground, beautiful beach, plenty of walking trails and wildlife, and PCB right outside the gates. We’ll definitely be back someday. After leaving St. Andrews, we made our way to our next campsite. The drive was hard, lots of ice and…

January 22… The Great Blizzard of ‘25
Snow in Florida, how crazy is that? And lots of it! The day after we left home two weeks ago (has it really only been two weeks?) it snowed a lot. I was kinda sad to have missed it, but not any more. Five inches of snow at Panama City Beach!! That’s so crazy to…

January 20… yes, it’s still winter.
Way too cold in Florida for my taste, FL is supposed to be warm and sunny year round. That’s why we came down here. Sadly, winter followed us here. Not letting that stop us though, we went to the beach again today. Grayton Beach State Park. I had never been there and it was worth…

January 17… is it still winter?
Warm, sunny day today, we went to the beach. Looking at the weather back home and it’s in the 20’s and 30’s. Here… 60’s. Hard to fathom that it’s only the middle of January. I could surely get used to the snowbird life. 😀

January 16… who knew?
This morning we left Falling Waters State Park. I lived only an hour away from this park for almost ten years and never knew it was here. A 75 ft tall waterfall in Florida!! Who knew! The trick is, it’s a deep sinkhole and the creek drops straight down into it. 😀 The campground is…

January 15… somewhere
Yesterday was moving day. We packed up and left our beautiful campsite at Suwannee River Bend RV Park in the heart of spring country in Florida. The park was filled with friendly snowbirds and longer time residents, but still super clean and very well maintained. We definitely want to return in the summertime someday so…

January 13… Not for the weak
We went to Fanning Springs yesterday. I’d never been there before but it was well worth it. Beautiful blue-green bowl, clean and deep, just boiling up with crystal clear water. A huge swimming area, we saw a diver coming up the ramp, and later a couple just swimming. Not so easy when it’s only 50…

January 10… Manatees!!!
I took Susanne to swim with the manatees today in Crystal River FL. We went with Fun2Dive tour company. They did a fantastic job, outfitted us with wet suits and snorkel gear, and took us out in the boat. Went to an area called Three Sisters Springs. There were dozens of manatees, some swimming around,…

January 8… Kayak time…
We went to Ichetucknee Springs State Park today. I grew up going there, at least once every summer. BEAUTIFUL blue springs and crystal clear water. Highly recommend it if you’ve never been. Update: Susy persists in calling it Itchytouchy Springs. Cracks me up. It’s cold in Florida this week. Every other time I’ve been to…
