We left Buccaneer State Park in Mississippi this morning heading for our new campsite in Louisiana. I had always heard that roads in LA were bad, so as we entered the state I was kinda on edge. I started thinking “hey, this isn’t bad”. The worst of it were the transitions from road to bridge and back, but still tolerable. And then came Baton Rouge. I-12 before and after Baton Rouge is HORRIBLE! Cracked pavement, pot holes, broken concrete, shaking the truck and camper to pieces. Shortly after Baton Rouge, we pulled over for a brief break, and I found one of my bikes hanging by a thread. The upright support had been bent and broken severely by all of the jouncing. I tied everything up with cables and we kept going. Now I have to find a welder somewhere to have it repaired. The park we’re in is beautiful, but the roads getting to it suck!
