Annnnnd… We’re off to see the wizard.
We visited the Oz Museum in Wamego Kansas today. Because it’s Kansas, where else would we go?
Wamego has claimed the Oz stories for their own. Nowhere in L Frank Baum’s books does it mention a hometown for Dorothy, so they jumped first and claimed the honor.
The Oz Museum is filled with several thousand artifacts related to the books, the cast and crew of the movie, and of all the movies made based on the story.

Original posters, costumes, books and artwork are on display.

Interesting trivia, only 12 pairs of ruby slippers were made for the original film, and only 5 pairs have been confirmed to still exist. One of those pairs is in the Smithsonian in Washington, and one pair is here at the Oz Museum. (Disclaimer: Susanne says I am FOS and the slippers here are not real ones. I know what I read and I’m sticking to it)

They have the original model of Dorothy’s farmhouse used in the filming of the movie.

And across the street is…. Of course,

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

A ball of twine, the land of Oz…. What other wonders does Kansas hold for us?? 🤔
