On previous road trips, I’ve driven eight, ten, even twelve hr days. No biggie, you do what it takes to get where you want to go and when you want to be there.
I drove six hours today and I was so happy to exit the truck.
Ten months into our epic journey and we have averaged about 2.5-3 hours between campsites. My longest drives were about four hours just a few times, and those were only tolerable because of the wonderful scenery we drove through.
Six hours across Kansas and northern Missouri… not so much. No scenery, almost all interstate highways, which I hate, crappy roads, construction, traffic. Not fun.
Susy and I talked yesterday and decided to redesign this week at the last minute, cancel a couple pre-booked campsites, and head for Branson MO to spend the week. Dixie Stampede, Titanic, some zip lining, we’ll see what else looks like fun as the week passes. Touristy stuff.
But for tonight, gotta let the blood flow back into my rear end. Either I’m getting old, or I’m getting soft. Neither one appeals. 😁
