Today was just gonna be an easy day. Susy and I rolled out of bed at the crack of 8:30, and headed out to Stone Mountain Park for the Yellow Daisy Festival, a huge craft and artists fair spreading across acres of the park, and attracting thousands of people.
Just as we were rolling into our parking spot, my phone rang and it was my daughter. “Today” she said.
You may recall, we learned back in January that she was expecting a baby boy, and now is the time.
So with some guidance from a helpful policeman, we quickly rolled out, and evading crowds and miles of backed up traffic, we jumped back on the highway and headed to Sara’s.
We grabbed their dog Nova, and took her to our house, then headed to the hospital. Sara let us visit for just a few minutes before kicking us out, and she and Jeremy went off to take care of business.
My grandson Cade Hayes Briar was born at 9:05pm on September 10, 2026. He was 8 pounds, 2 ounces, and has all the required fingers, toes, and miscellaneous appendages.

Sara is adamant about spelling his name as “Cade”, no matter how many times I tell her it should be Khaidh. What’s up with kids these days? 🤔 Just call me Grumps. 😁
