October 14…. Where’s Waldo?

First order of business,

Happy Birthday to my beautiful wife and traveling companion, Susanne. May your heart continue to be filled with joy and wonder at the places we go, for a long time to come.

Today was a trip to the highest point in Georgia at 4,784 feet above sea level.

We’re camped near Hiawassee GA this week and we can see Brasstown Bald from our site.

It looks like it’s “right over there”, it’s really just 2.5 miles from here, but the road winds for miles and took us 30 minutes in the truck. 😳

From the parking lot, the summit is only a half mile more, up a STEEP (but paved) trail. We cheated and took the shuttle up to the top.

I kinda forgot my wallet (again) but this time Susy was prepared and was able to pay for our shuttle tickets. I did remember to take the TV remote control though, so at least I was prepared for something. 😞

After climbing the last couple flights of stairs to the observation deck (the tower is no longer open to visitors), we turned and started down, on foot.

Downhill works WITH gravity, not against it. Gravity is a law and I obey the law. 😉. A half mile later, we ended up next to the gift shop, of course. Matching t-shirts and a book for my grandson capped off a beautiful day. Where to next?? 🤔
